Abstract:
The full or partial syndrome eating disorders (ED) affect up to 10% of adolescents, representing a
real threat to the health of mankind. Unfortunately, ED diagnosis can be rather confusing and more
than 50% of the cases remain undetected. Over the past years, the population have seemed to become
more aware of this disorders and their real morbidity, due to a large extent to mass-media and vulgarizing
publications.
Bulimia nervosa is the mental disease which is the most characteristic of ED.
Psychiatric comorbidity represented by personality disorders, anxiety disorders, affective disorders,
schizophrenia is studied from both an etiopathogenetic and therapeutic point of view. The
understanding of ED association with chronic organic pathology is necessary for the investigation and
formulation of hypotheses regarding ED ethiopathogeny; for the prevention and understanding of ED
complications induced by chronic organic diseases and their treatment, for the early diagnosing of ED
in the context of chronic organic disorders with a view to their adequate treatment.
