Abstract:
Progressive chronic disorder, initially considered as being represented by dopaminergic neuronal
loss, with predominantly motor symptoms, nowadays on the basis of modern technologies and
procedures of diagnosis, the symptomatology extended by associating other different symptoms, many
times being atypical, cognitive symptoms. Determining the diagnosis and framing it in a certain type of
Parkinson’s disease is not a very easy task and requires an interdepartmental complex study of the
patient. The present work reviews the main elements which define this medical disorder and presents
some epidemiological information at the level of Iasi county in order to outline an image on the impact
and the incidence which the problem of Parkinson’s disease has today.
