Abstract:
Motivation: Today, supplementing the psychotropic treatment with one of the psychotherapy forms, especially on young patients that have an insight capacity over the illness, becomes a more often reality. Objectives: Affective bipolar disorder is one of the clinical cases that need a long term manage- ment on both planes (pharmacological and psychological) in order to have the guarantee of success – in the cases it comes over a high cognitive potential. This paper wants to highlight the therapeutic benefits in the case of a woman aged 35, treated with 15 mf of Aripriprazole after a last severe maniacal episode together with psychoanalytical psychotherapy during the years of treatment. Method: The results will be shown in a double perspective – psychiatric and psychotherapeutic, using the results of clinical scales YMRS and PANSS and the way the patient activated her defense mechanisms (based on CAQ, Szondi, and DSQ scales) Results: From a psychiatric point of view: Aripriprazole has been proven to be the best choice. From a psychotherapeutic point of view: psychoanalytical orientation of the therapy was suited to the patient considering her intellectual level, her introspective potential and her insight capacity. Conclusions: Even if the demarcation line between pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy is sinuous, the cumulative results open the perspective of a quality remission in the Bipolar Affective Disorder.
