Abstract:

The actuality of the child socialization research theme, within the context of the present day typical Romanian family, is determined by the issue of the growing number of families striving to survive by taking several jobs. This situation leads from parents spending less time with the children to families where parents spend no time at all with their offspring’s. For this reason, many families choose to trust their children within the care of organizational educational structures, who assume both the role of educating, and supervising them for the entire day. Within this context, an assessment of social and psychological aspects of small children development in after school programs, children that cannot spend much time with their parents, because of the long working hours, is in order. Also, we must identify and analyze the risks of trusting a child to such an institution, in terms of his psychological and educational development and establish preventive measures
