Considerations on attachment are presented in three parts. The first part begins with a challenging exercise necessary for personal introspection and relational empathy, in order to understand the nucleus of existence. The second section discusses the definition of the attachment concept, the developer of the attachment theory, the collaborators and the continuators of the theory, the internal working model, the fundamental dimensions of attachment (proximity – availability versus emotional responsiveness – accessability – maleability of attachment – communication patterns – the “secure base” – the “Ainsworth Strange Situation”), the patterns of attachment (secure – avoidant – ambivalent – disorganized/disoriented). The final section represents an introduction to the transgenerational transmission, which will be discussed in the second part of the article and published subsequently
