Danger and the relapse risk assessment, in the mentally disordered offenders, has known an important development, for the past decades, with regard to the used methods and instruments. Depending on the theoretical models, adopted by the specialists within the society, policies, laws and practices have been drawn up, intended to increase the degree of social safety. The same theoretical model, the clinical model respectively (based on the clinical judgment of the risk factors, in particular dynamic) and the judicial model (based on probabilistic-statistical analysis of the risk factors, in particular, statistical) led to adopting measures, either punishment or treatment of respective offenders. Although, worldwide, the forth generation of instruments, clinical and statistical, was reached, for the assessment of danger and relapse risk, in the mentally disordered offenders, in Romania we still undergo the first stage of their development, stage in which the professional judgment and the experience of the psychiatric assessor prevailed.
