Abstract:

Recently, many studies reported an independent association between blood pressure and the cognitive deficit. However, the results of these studies are not very consistent in describing the exact relationship between blood pressure and the cognitive status. In the present paper we evaluated the correlations between the systolic blood pressure and some main psychometric tests, such as MMSE (Mini-Mental State Examination) and MOCA (The Montreal Cognitive Assessment). Our results provide additional evidences that a significant correlation between systolic blood pressure levels and cognitive deficits exists. Moreover, we demonstrated significant connections between systolic blood pressure levels and most of the subdomains from specific tests such as MMSE and MOCA.
