Victims of body injuries can experience psychological disturbances. The aim of the present study was to reveal and quantify the depressive reactions and anxiety disorders, as well as the acute stress and posttraumatic stress disorder in physically injured subjects. The 30 subjects of the study underwent a standard medico-legal expertise for the traumatic injuries and, in addition, they were tested using: self-report inventories – Beck Depression Inventory short form, STAI-formX1 Inventory - and mini structured interviews – for acute stress and PTSD. Moderate depression was found in 25% of the subjects. Women were more frequently affected compared to males. A change in mental attitude is required followed by the modernisation of evaluation procedure of invalidity in percents, even the mental damages, and to recognize this medico-legal entity.
