Abstract:
A 46 year-old-man was being kept under observation in our clinic since 2009 for severe psoriasis.
Cutaneous lesions had begun in 1996 as plaque type psoriasis involving the scalp, and later the
elbows and knees. It remained quite stable until 2010, when after familial problems (the patient’s wife
divorced him and moved to another city), and he began to feel sad and alone – it extended progressively.
In October 2010, erythrodermic psoriasis developed requiring admittance to hospital. He was
placed on oral methotrexate (MTX) 15 mg/week and topical emollients, tar and steroids, with rapid
regression of cutaneous lesions, which allowed us to stop systemic treatment in January 2011. The
patient remained quite well with phototherapy and topical treatment (calcipotriol, tar, steroids) until
June 2012, when after a row with his girlfriend, oligoarticular psoriasis developed.
