Objectives: The study aim was to identify whether pregnancies with schizophrenia as a risk factor are associated with adverse perinatal outcomes, considering the fact that the “paternalistic” approach regarding fertility in these patients is overcrossed. Material and method: Based on records linkage across birth register cases and neonatal assistance, the study compressed a number of 43 pregnant schizophrenic women who had given birth during 2005 – 2010 in Hospital “Elena Doamna” Iasi. A comparison sample of 43 births to women without a psychiatric diagnose was randomly selected from women giving birth during 2005 – 2010.
