Abstract:

Somatic illnesses have frequently a great impact on the psychological balance of the psy-chiatric patient. Moreover affective disorders can be involved in the etiology of many so-matic illnesses. The aim of this study is to highlight the bio-psycho-social particularities of the patients suffering from an affective disorder. Material and method: The current study is a prospective one; questionnaire based and was conducted between the 1st of March and the 31st of May 2013. The study group in-cluded 50 female patients (all compliant with the inclusion and exclusion criteria), that were admitted in the Intensive Care Female Ward of the “Socola” Institute of Psychiatry from Iasi. The key steps of the study were: patient selection, obtaining the informed con-sent and creating the electronic data base. Results and discussions: The balance of the mental status is more robust, due to the diver-sity of the influence factors that contribute to the psychological homeostasis. The increase of the income (which leads to an amelioration of the mental and physical health status) can generate a cumulative effect on life quality improvement. Conclusions: The income represents a significant factor of influence and prediction on the somatic health status of the individual.
